WHAT WINES ARE THE UNIQ SERIES BOTTLE STOPPERS SUITABLE FOR?
These cork stoppers are perfect for any type of still wine. They are made from smaller pieces of natural cork, allowing them to fit perfectly in the bottleneck. This ensures an excellent seal and helps preserve the wine’s freshness for longer.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UNIQ WINE BOTTLE STOPPERS?
The cork stoppers differ slightly in terms of the size of the cork pieces they are made from. Each model has a slightly different structure and appearance, but these differences aren’t significant when it comes to aesthetics.
And the technical differences? The UNIQ2 model has a moisture absorption capacity of up to 30%, while UNIQ3, UNIQ4, and UNIQ5 can absorb up to 25%.
As for TCA, the level in UNIQ2 is up to 1.5 ng/L, while in UNIQ3, UNIQ4, and UNIQ5 it’s up to 0.9 ng/L.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE UNIQ BOTTLE CORK STOPPER?
All UNIQ stoppers have dimensions of 44 × 24 mm.
ARE THESE STOPPERS ALSO SUITABLE FOR SPARKLING WINES?
No, for sparkling wines we recommend other models. Check out the EXPO and VEGA stoppers.
WHAT IS THE TCA LEVEL IN THESE WINE BOTTLE STOPPERS?
In the UNIQ2 model, the TCA level is up to 1.5 ng/L, while in UNIQ3, UNIQ4, and UNIQ5, it is up to 0.9 ng/L. These are lower values compared to mass-produced cork stoppers.
WHAT IS TCA?
TCA, or trichloroanisole, is a compound that sometimes causes wine to develop a "corked" taste. Don’t worry, though – even if this happens, the wine is still safe to drink. TCA only affects the smell and taste, not your health.
The lower the TCA level in a stopper, the less likely your wine will have this taint. So, if you want to ensure your wine stays pure in aroma, it’s worth choosing stoppers with low or nearly undetectable TCA levels.
All our cork stoppers undergo rigorous testing to ensure low TCA levels.
IS THE BOTTLE CORK STOPPER HEALTHY AND SAFE?
Yes, natural cork is a safe and healthy closure for wine. It’s a natural material sourced from the bark of the cork oak tree and doesn’t release any harmful substances.
Moreover, natural cork acts as a protective barrier. It safeguards the wine from external contaminants, blocking microorganisms, dust, or other particles that could affect the taste and quality of the drink. It serves as a filter, preventing harmful substances from getting in, ensuring the wine stays clean and fresh throughout its storage.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO STORE WINE BOTTLES WITH CORK STOPPERS?
Here are a few practical tips for you:
- Keep the bottles horizontal – this keeps natural cork moist and prevents it from drying out. This way, the cork stopper won’t lose its seal.
- Choose a cool and dark place for storage – ideally, the temperature should be between 10 and 15°C. A stable temperature is key to keeping your wine in good condition.
- Make sure the humidity in the storage area is right – it’s best if it’s around 70%.
ARE CORK STOPPERS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM A BOTTLE?
Cork stoppers can sometimes require a bit more effort than synthetic closures, but it’s not a big difference.
This happens because natural cork provides a better seal than plastic stoppers. However, with a good corkscrew, opening the bottle is smooth and quick.
DOES NATURAL CORK AFFECT THE COLOUR OF THE WINE?
No, natural cork doesn’t directly affect the colour of the wine. Its main role is to seal the bottle and regulate minimal air flow. The material itself doesn’t alter the wine’s colour.
Changes in wine colour are usually a result of natural processes, such as oxidation, which occur as the wine ages.
DOES NATURAL CORK CAUSE ALLERGIES?
No, natural cork is a hypoallergenic material. Unlike some plastics or metals, natural cork doesn’t release any chemicals that could harm your health.
When it comes to wine, natural cork is especially safe because it doesn’t react with the drink or affect its quality.
When you open a bottle of wine, you want it to taste perfect. Natural cork is unbeatable for this – it seals the bottle tightly, preserves freshness, and minimises the risk of any unpleasant taste. The elegant appearance is an added bonus, perfectly complementing the character of the bottle.
#1 STYLISH, ELEGANT LOOK
When you reach for a bottle of wine, every detail matters – just like the moment you open it. A cork stopper is pure luxury, without unnecessary extravagance.
Every cork stopper is unique and has its own distinct structure – nature never creates two identical pieces. This gives your bottle a personal touch. It’s a small detail, but we know that true connoisseurs will appreciate it.
#2 PURE NATURE WITHOUT PLASTIC
By choosing natural cork, you’re simply opting for nature, with no artificial additives. The material comes straight from the cork oak tree, a tree that lives for decades, giving us the best of itself – its bark. So, you could say that wine cork stoppers quite literally grow on trees!
No plastic and no chemical substitutes. Just nature, providing the perfect seal for your wine. Cork stopper is a small but incredibly important element, showing that you care for the environment without compromising on quality.
#3 EXCELLENT SEALING
Natural cork is a master at preserving the best in your wine. It fits perfectly into the bottleneck, creating a reliable barrier against excessive oxidation.
It’s protection for the most precious flavours and aromas, keeping them sealed for longer. Every freshly opened bottle will be as good as you expect – with no unpleasant surprises!
#4 CHEAPER STOPPERS VS NATURAL CORK
The choice between cheaper synthetic stoppers and natural cork makes a noticeable difference. Especially when it comes to higher-quality still wines.
For example, with cheaper plastic stoppers, wine loses its freshness more quickly. After just a few days of storage, the flavours and aromas can noticeably deteriorate. Natural cork, on the other hand, ensures a perfect seal and allows the wine to age under the right conditions. Even after longer periods, the wine retains its full flavour.
Synthetic stoppers can also speed up the oxidation process, which negatively affects the quality of the wine. Natural cork, thanks to its porous structure, allows the wine to breathe in a controlled way. It protects the taste and aroma – even during long-term storage.
#5 MINIMISED TCA CONTENT
If you're worried about unpleasant flavour notes, you can rest easy. Our natural cork stoppers have minimised TCA content down to a safe level.
This way, you can enjoy your wine exactly as it’s meant to be – without interference, just pure aroma and taste. With this cork, every bottle is a safe choice, with no surprises in your glass.
#6 TRADITIONAL CLOSURE METHOD
When you open a bottle of wine with a natural cork, you become part of a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Natural cork has been the choice of winemaking masters for centuries because it reliably keeps wine in perfect condition.
Every opening is a piece of history; the traditional cork stopper allows the wine to age just as it has for generations. It doesn’t just seal the bottle; it preserves the essence of tradition.
